Soutzoukakia

Full of incredible Greek flavours, this hearty dish is a great starter for those extra cold Calgary nights.

The dish is unique to both Greece and Turkey and in the latter is also known as Smyrna meatballs.

In Greek, the work Soutzoukakia means spicy little sausages.

However, they can be more accurately described as oblong meatballs.

First, the meatballs are made with ground beef, chilli powder, cumin, parsley, cinnamon and other ingredients.

Next, they are slow cooked in a rich tomato sauce, with white wine and garlic and served nice and warm!
